Biggazvr6 0
To cut a long story short, ive ordered a chip off the bay to try on my obd2 vr. weather it will work or not is to be seen. ill be rolloing the car the same day with and without the chip. Had a obd2 vr golf previously and yet this one i have now seems quicker but i thought it might be because this is lower milage, no aircon, different exhaust than the other etc etc.Chip arrives so i pull the ecu out and open up. Firstly i notice that the chip i am ment to change doesn't look like the other chips on the board and has a sticker on it as shown in the pic below. Took the sticker off and here is the writing under thesticker on the chip already in the ecu.Question is, is this chip standard or already an aftermarket chip of some kind? The car as ive said feels quicker than my previous vr and doesnt apear to have a rev limiter arround th 6.5k mark where my other one did. Ive read thta some chips increase rpms.I could do with this mix up sorting out if anybody knows thier stuff as dont want to to have to solder my new chip in if its already been done. Im asumimng this is the solder in typr? The chip thats in now also doesnt seem to look any different to the other standard chips in the box with regards to the soldering looking factory,Any ideas?cheers in advance
UnitedMotorsport 55
The chip is stock. We can solder a socket into your ECU no problem.
Biggazvr6 0
Are you 100% sure it's stock? Sorry to questionyour knowledge!you say socket, is that a socket to push my chip into that's soldered to the board. If so how much? Also how much to just swap the chips and where are you located? Cheers fellas
Biggazvr6 0
Anyone?
FishWick 21
As Matt said, that is definitely, 100% a stock chip.Nearly all chip holders are the decryptor type to decipher the encrypted software (copyright protection) and the fact yours has no holder means it's stock. No aftermarket tuner solders a 44 pin chip back onto the board.
