hobbsy 0 Posted February 27, 2005 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 Got a set of mk4 montreal 2 alloys on my vr and the 205/55tyres look like they have come off a tractor. A couple are getting low so I reckon it is now time to get some new slim rubber, only thing is do I go for 205/45s or 195/45s, the car is getting severely dropped soon as well when I get a day off work to take it in, so I want to clear the standard arches. would the 195s look too skinny, meaning I would need to drop it to ridiculous levels to fill the arches, or would the 205s rub .Anyone got any pics or had any experience of similar profile tyres? MrBen 0 Posted February 27, 2005 Report Share Posted February 27, 2005 The VW tyre size on 16's is 215/40/16 as fitted to the anniversary etc.I'm running 205/40/16's without any problems, and lots of people run 205/45/16's. I wouldn't go any skinnier than a 205 with all that VR grunt to put on the floor! Link to post Share on other sites

I agree with everybody else, 195's would be too narrow. My car isn't lowered though (yet) so I can't pass opinion on that.TBH I'm supprised the Mk4 wheel size of 205/55 hasn't been giving you problems with rubbing - they are huge!!!! hobbsy 0 Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Share Posted February 28, 2005 They havent been giving me any trouble cos of my 4x4 like suspension, getting coilovers fitted next week so need to sort out the rubber to avoid any unwanted rubbing, think I will go with the 205/45 option if thats whats on yours, looks about right.
