Painting Engine Block

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm fairle new here and have had my vr6 for about a year even though the engine has been on a stand for most of it. Anyway I've stripped the whole block down but have kept the pistons and crank in it. I want to paint the block and have read a few topics from different forums about using hammerite but I know the vr6 is a hot running engine and was just wondering would this still be ok or is there a better way to paint it ?

Thanks, Gordon

What ever you use make sure the coating is as thin as possible ie no primer and just enough paint to cosmeticly give the effect you want, most finishes are thermally insulative and hence effect the engines heat dissapation thats the reason there not painted in pretty colours from the factory.
