Was doing a search the other day for the camshaft sensor location and found this picture http://tech.gotdns.org/data/Image/CPS/100_1932.jpg . I then looked below the hood and found out that I do not have the part to the right of the camshaft sensor, the one that obscures the engine wire harness.

http://postimage.org/image/21k43c8g4/ my wire sits there not plugged into anything.

Am I missing something ? What is that part ?

thanks.

So probably some hoses were bypassed after the pump was removed. If so could you please tell me which ones and what size the hose is so I can but it and reconnect the pump after I buy it ?

I thought I had this pump because when i take the car for a drive and I switch off the ignition sometimes the fan keeps going for a couple of minutes, i assumed this to be the secondary water pump system in action.

Also looking at another reference picture could you tell me what those other parts that I circled are ? I seem to be missing those too :)) , at least the engine in the picture is an ODB I mine is a II maybe there s a slight difference ?

The bottom right circled part is the Aux water pump witch on you're car has been removed and bypassed (probably due to failure and the last owner didn't want to pay to replace it).

The 2nd circled part in the middle is part of the EGR system, it is a stupid "environmental" system that esentually pipes exhaust gasses back into the inlet manifold to bring down emissions.

the last circled part top left is the idle stabilisation or air control valve (ISV)

The EGR system is not fitted to all Vr6 models, My 94 Vr doesn't have one and in my opinion its better off without them for obvious reasons.

As far as the ISV goes I didnt even know the engine would run without it or at least it wouldn't idle properly.

Hope that helps.

Hey thanks. So do i need something else other than the aux water pump to fit it back in ? Is there a bracket or something like that , and what type of hose do I need to reconnect it ?

I was wondering about the EGR as i've seen it as a part for my car on quite a few websites. So It's a separate system from the crankcase breather valve ?

the ISV was removed on OBD II VR6's.

I didnt know that ODBII's dont have an ISV.

The EGR runs directly from the exhaust to the inlet manifold somewhere, or at least the ones I have seen have. I personaly dont like them because it reduces power and not adds it in the strictest sense. It will reduce combustion chamber temps which reduces NOx but it also dilutes your air-fuel mixture with unmetered air so you get a weaker explosion thus less power. Its purpose is to send exhaust gasses back through the intake system to be re-burnt. This in itself will line the inside of the intake with exhaust which will also distrupt the air flow and cause disturbances in the intake. It has its up sides and down sides, BUT... on the other hand all of these devices in the end just help us breathe cleaner air.
