MttRsll7 0
Getting sick of having to use my dash/trim restorer every couple weeks, I was thinking maybe when I get my VR6 sprayed black, to get the trim (spoiler, side skirts and under bumper trim) sprayed as well so it has a nice glossy finish rather than the standard matt black plastic look. What does everyone think? Good idea? Or avoid!?
BADOIR 2
good idea for me just the front spoiler could be a pain if you bottom out or smash it lol, but would deffo look good colour coded..
MttRsll7 0
Yeah I was thinking that lol, but the car's not very low so that HOPEFULLY won't be a problem
b19drg 0
You can always have it painted with textured paint for that oem look
MttRsll7 0
that's a nice idea actually, maybe I'll get that done on the lower trim like the bumpers and sides and then have the spoiler as a gloss finish I think that would look pretty good
Lukey. 381
if you laquer over them it looks like theyve just been back to blacked all the time. If you do this though they have to be cleaned down to literally a molecular level, cos all that silicone and oils in the trim restorer will cause the paint to either not stick or bubble up. MttRsll7 0
that would be a cheaper option sounds good to me. if i clean them down to that extent though won't they just go back to that horrible faded colour and if I laquer over that won't it just be shiny grey? lol cheers
VDub_Steve 1
Why don't you just sand them back then gloss them. I sanders mine then sprayed them metalic black then laquered them
MttRsll7 0
well I'm planning to spray the whole car a nice black gloss colour, I'm just not too sure what the side skirts will look like if I do that, I most likely will though because I hate the look of plastic! Lukey. 381
If you clean them with some proper solvent plastic cleaner they should come up black like new
