mikcle60 0 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 Hello i have reacently bought a 98 vr6 and there seem to be a problem when accelerating the car judders, its like trying to go up a hill in the wrong gear!! if in 3rd i constanly need to change to 2nd to accelerate! it seems to get better when the car car is warm?? i have just changed the cam position sensor but its still the same! any thoughts are much appreaciated Link to post Share on other sites

mikcle60 0 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 Previous owner changed ht leads, old ones are in the boot!! it idles ok and revs ok, as the problem gets better when the car warms up makes me think it could be somthing else?? Link to post Share on other sites
Bigjobbo 0 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Share Posted June 20, 2011 It's likely that the plugs are shot, the leads have not been fitted correctly (which i have seen alot) or the coilpack is arcing. With the engine running, let the bonnet down onto the back of your head (seriously) and look at each of the connections to the plugs and at the coilpack, you will most likely see something arcing out. If nothing is apparent, use a spray bottle with water and lightly spray it on the ignition system, if there's a weakness the water will make it visible. Try this and let us know how you get on.
