VR6Steve 0
!amazed NO! Its been in our mates garage having bits and pieces done for most of the time we've had it. Whatever oil went into it seems to have burnt off, so I was thinking of changing it to something I know people are happy with.Incidentally Tom, assuming yours is a KR engine code what fuel do you use? I had been told KR's had to run on LRP? %-
acf8181 0
synta silver on all vw's except very low mileage ones (they can have gold) or mega high mileage (go for thicker stuff)....though other oils are prob fine, synta's a good price and a known quantity. I had been told KR's had to run on LRP? %-6 [/quote']i was always told the same lrp or super unleaded...but my 16v runs unleaded with out pinking what so ever, the prevous owner run it on the same fuel... its a 2ltr tsr engine so might be different...will have a look at the engine code when my mum brings it back from work and let you know.....i'd go for super unleaded over LRP......................Out of interest how much oil is it burning ?! badboyV6 4
Mine was a KR engine- alway ran unleaded and again never suffered any problems - pinking etc- and i used rev the f@@k out of that car :-)
MK2R32 0
I've heard that with a KR you need to run super unleaded, unless you have a Kstar fitted, the Kstar enables you to map the Bosch mechanical fuel injection.I'd say a good quality semi synthetic oil is more than good enough for a KR engine. VR6Steve 0
Its running on Optimax with no problems so far, so I guess I'll carry on with that.Tommy - I don't know how much its burning as yet, all I know is that it had not done that many miles since it was serviced and the dip stick was only showing at the bottom of the cross hatched section. Hence my reason initially wondering if she has the right grade of oil in her. Thanks for all the advice.
