Modded 3.1 issues, please help!!!

Recommended Posts

So the weekend ended up fitting the 3.1 everything went according to plan until the thermostat housing started to leak, took 5 hours to sort that out ( had to retap the thread :bang: :bang: )

anyhoooo, no uni q yet, i have it at home but not installed yet, now when driving normally the car kinda jerks and holds back below 3000rpms and when you ever so slightly touch the pedal it feels like you starting to do a dance move lol... it jerks, i have driven 70km thus far and the fuel consumption is at 15.8L/100km which is very high considering i wasn't driving the car hard...at all...

so will the ECU need to adjust or am i doing more damage by driving the car like this, it pulls hard and clean after 3000rpm....

I set the cam timing to almost TDC, it was one or almost 2mm out from the crank pully, i couldn't get it to line up, does the cams need different timing marks?

Could it be a fouled plug wire, i fitted new plugs and checked them, they, well still new....

Maybe my injectors are dirty? could it be??

also my temperature guage (water) is not working anymore, is that the switch in the thermo housing that controls this? if so which one?

the motor specs is SR20DET ks pistons, 3mm dish machined into it

276 cams

extensive headwork - even the mani is match ported and intake and that thing inbetween the intake and head, valves is worked

titanium valves and springs

bottom end was balanced

lightened flywheel

please help....

If you had the timing out it would be further out then 2mm, say it would be near on 10mm out if you were 1 tooth out. Did you line the rear of the cams up, with the locking plate to hold them both?

Check your plugs, always worth it after a rebuild, check to see if they are wet with fuel-if they are, bin them. They will never be right, and could cause you problems.

I think the blue sender sends a signal to the ecu, the yellow is used for the dash, coolant run-on pump and fan run-on.
