The 1st pipe links the cylinder head to the pipe between the MAF and the Throttle body. This is there to feed metered air to the injector shrouds. This not being connected will make the car idle incorrectly.

The 2nd pipe also connects to the big black tube linking the MAF to the throttle body. This takes oil vapour from the crank case and passes it into the inlet tract for it to then be burnt by the engine. Again this not being connected will make the engine idle incorrectly.
