sorry guys but i cant find help anywhere so trying here, just replacing the rear wheel bearings on my renault 5.

wheel bearing has been pressed into the brake drum but the brake drum wont slide back onto the axle. i have used a small sledge hammer and wood so far

the hub nut fits on so i guess i could tighten it to press the drum further on but wouild this damage the bearings as it presses against them ?

if there sealed cartridge bearings? then they wont just slide on, idealy you will need to press the center section of the bearing on over the axle, how did the old one come off? done mine on my corrado, but there roller taper bearings and they just slide on the stub axle.

they came off without any trouble just slid of the axle. heres the link to the ones i bought http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110636737744&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

the brakes shoes arent a prob for the moment its the axle it slides onto.the inner bit of the bearing got stuck on the stub axle , how do i get this off - i have taken the bearings off just left with the metal part of the bearing stuck to the axle! when this is off im using wet and dry on the stub axle and testing how the old bearing fits comparred with new.just want to sort it out for god sakes.
