fabio_vr6 0
Hi all!!When i depress the clutch pedal when the car is warm, i can hear a click click click as the pedal is going down and feels noitchy, also when ive drivin say 20 miles on the motorway then stop and depress the clutch again i sometimes get a clonk like a wishbone is loose or somthing lol, this is when im still by the way. all wishbone bolts etc are tight. Anyone have an idea what it is? both noises are coming from the engine bay. fabio
badboyV6 4
If the clicking noise is coming from the pedal box id say its the cable, however the clonking noise could be the release bearing or pressure plate in the clutch (which could mean a new clutch in the near future) Best to gt someone to depress the clutch while you have a look under the engine bay.... Dr.Pepper 0
I have something similar.I've listened under the bonnet while someone presses the clutch and the noise is coming from the cylinder at the opposite end to the pedal, the one on the gearbox.I'm presuming it's a piston inside there that's catching.... FishWick 21
Good luck trying to solve the clicking....On Monday, I had Stealth do me a new box build with 3.68 diff crown wheel, quaife ATB and a new VAG clutch....and you know what, that darn noise is still there. It's not the slave cylinder either as that's new too.I might be the pressure plate fingers as already mentioned. I thought it might the ceramic pivot ball rubbing on the actuator arm but I greased that good and proper, so can't be that. What ever it is doesn't matter and I've heard dozens of VWs with the 02A gearbox do it, with no ill effect. The noise is coming from within the bellhousing, so it's definitely clutch related. My box is super quiet now (apart from that pedal clicking/grind) that the bearings are all new....and super slick thanks to the master of boxes, Mr Saiya.Oh yeah, and you really must invest in a quaife and 3.68 final drive....awesome! mattverth 0
Mine does this. I work in acoustics so it shit me to tears. I got a friend to depress the clutch whilst i stuck my head in engine bay and it really really is the slave cylinder . you can feel it shudder if you put your hand on it whilst clutch is being depressed. I hvaent changed it yet, but will get round to it. how much is a slave cylinder in UK? Will cost a mint here in Sydney. The main symptom apart from noise is a jerky/staged clutch action, just to make sure we are talking the same thing.
Dr.Pepper 0
Have to say I haven't really noticed any other symptoms on mine. There's a definite noise coming from the slave cylinder or gearbox, but the clutch seems to operate smoothly as always. The pedal is where it's noticeable. I can feel the click through it as I depress and raise the pedal.Hadn't thought of putting a hand on the cylinder while the pedal is being pressed though, I'll give that a go...
