Turbosmart Products

Recommended Posts

I've been looking on this website I came across. Seems really good value, lots of stuff

http://www.turbodynamics.co.uk/shop/wastegates-spares-wastegates-c-987_1293_1192.html

They have the Tial F38 for sale a few quid cheaper than on GT3Turbo, but I couldn't help notice that the Turbosmart 38 equivalent is more expensive than Tial.

What's your views on this? And is the Turbosmart a rival for Tial?

Yeah good site that. Borg Warner EFR turbos coming soon too. I'd better hide my credit card!!

Turbosmart and TIAL are much of a muchness. Very similar quality. Personally speaking, TIAL products have been 100% reliable for me over many 1000s of miles, so I won't use anything else.

good point Kev. I know they have the reputation, but surely there's got to be a reason why their £265 with the VAT and the Tial's are £191 with the VAT off here, any cheap ones are like £100 or under.

I might give it a go, there seems to be a lot used when searching google.

Only thing is at the moment it's set to 1bar, with 2 springs.

Out of this list http://www.turbodynamics.co.uk/shop/spring-for-turbosmart-ultragate-38-hypergate-45-wastegates-p-3011.html

Which ones would I need to get it to open at 7psi? I get a bit confused with the inner middle and outer spring bit.

You fancying a Borg Warner then Kev?

I run 2 of the turbosmart w/gates' date=' i know i havn't done that many miles with them (2000), but they seem excellent.

All you'll need to do is remove 1 of the springs in the gate, as they are rated at 7 psi each.

Ah ok, i didn't realise they were just rated 7 each. You think it's best to leave the big spring in, I presume it'll be the strongest and best one out of the 2 to leave in.

/\ Most definitely! I used a pillar drill to take mine apart :-) Same with the Tial dump valves, if you use one. The lid will take your teeth out if it flies apart suddenly! Be VERY careful not to pinch the delicate diaphragm between the two halves of the WG when you reassemble it. It'll cause huge boosting problems if you split it and they're not cheap to replace!

Turbosmart v Tial. I can't tell you why one costs more than the other Russ, but they are both very highly regarded. Turbosmart are Australian, and they certainly know a thing or two about high quality tuning products, such as MOTEC ECUs for example. Tial are American, who also know a thing or two about tuning and billet machining :-)
