noscharged 0
On wednesday I fitted coilovers. When fitting them I got new top mounts and bearings for the front. All has been fine until today when the drivers side front started knocking. Seems like its coming from the top mount.I tightened the top nut and still knocks.Could it be the nut that holds the bearing to the shock? How tight should this nut be? Air gun tight or hand tight? cabrioman 6
the top nuts should be FT .... king tight.silly question but did you put the mounts up the correct way ???? where they new or used coilovers ??
noscharged 0
Yeah they are up the right way. Well think so, just done it same way up as the old ones were lol. The top top nut is f-ing tight but I'm wondering if I done the nut up tight enough on that bearing. Or could I have done it too tight and crushed the bearing? They are brand new jamex coilys
cabrioman 6
is there any movement if you jack that side of the car up from the shock or top mount ???
noscharged 0
Havnt tried yet mate, guna try that tomorrow morning as it was dark when I noticed it so didn't do too much. Just to check, this is how I done it...New shock, put on new bush and bearing and tightened nut off old shock onto the bearing, then put the strut in, the cap on, then tightend the top nut and then a lock nut on top of that. Thing I don't understand is how come its only just started knocking, they've been on a few days now lol
noscharged 0
Had the shock off, re-fitted everything is tight and still knocks, don't seem to be any movement in the top mount. Dunno what else it could be....

noscharged 0
No I've checked all those, its definatly coming from the shock, I'm wondering if the top mount bearing is nackered. I got genuine mounts that I already had but the bearings are from euro car parts.
