Drag strip on Sun.. **Results and video's are now up**

Is there anything I can do now with an N/A VR6 to get a few extra milliseconds off my time?

I have 6 branch race manifold and straight through exhaust (no cat) Air filter re-located behind bumper. Jim potters' old re-mapped ECU!

I have a solid front engine mount on it's way to help get a bit more to wheels! Some octane booster from a small local tuning place. Was proven to help knock 1 second off a 1/4 mile time at santa pod in it's development. Also nothing except interior in the car, no spare wheel, least amount of fuel possible, no Mrs etc lol

Tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1's that are a month old. They grip like poop to ya shoe!

So what else can I do? And what tyres pressures should I run? 40 rear and 25 front maybe?

I usually run 18psi on the front, and 22psi in warmer weather.

Strip out interior

Ans remove sound deadening mat as it weights kilos!! If u want interior then chuck it back in..

Before i stripped mine, i always used to remove pass seat And rear's, spare wheel and shelf.. Every gramme helps!

I'll try it at 20psi in the fronts then. Do you put as much as possible in the rears to help drag? I know yours is turbo's too so if I ran tyres at 20, will it effect the top speed at the end of track, or will I get enough extra grip to make up for it?

Also I've been toying with taking the interior out, but I want it to look standard. In other words I don't mind some heavy sound proofing coming out but still want all of the carpets and seats in etc

Bit of an update!!

Was at shakespeare's county raceway today and had a really good day. Never done anything like it before so didn't know what to expect at all. The track was actually really good and cold weather but beautiful sun means now we're all burnt :(

I nearly beat my mate's cooper s, if it wasn't for the last run I would have!

For an N/A car with only a few saft mods, and more importantly with full interior etc... I managed a 14.7 at 93mph which I though was pretty good going.

My mate managed a 14.8 at 97mph but the last run he saw a 14.3 also at 97mph.

I will get some pictures up soon and hopefully get some HD video's up on youtube from inside my car, which have no perception of speed and looks like I'm doing about 15mph! Especially when the cars I went up against and lost were, Skyline R33, 750BHP impreza drag car that went past me at 145mph, and a Prodrive 340BHP impreza WRX STI!! I did beat a John Cooper Works mini with 240BHP and completely stripped out, but his driving let the car down!

All in all, was a great day out, and I'd recommend the VR6OC maybe get together there for a bit of a club shoot-out on one of the next public open days.

cheers stig!

is a 14.7 good then for a n/a vr6? never done it before, my 1st run was a 16.4 because i stopped my burnout in the water lol.

also i had tyres at 25psi and best time i launched at getting on 5k without much spin! you think raising a few psi might help me knock a few tenths off with less rolling resistance by the end of the run?
