hvr6 88
For the one year anniversary of the ‘feature car of the month’ section and now ‘under new management’ the deserving candidate is Gary’s OBD1 Dragon Green Golf - Absy.Without doubt one of the finest examples of an OBD1 Golf in the club. A regular to the South West events and deserved show and shine trophy winner - this is one seriously cared for car, just take a look at the long list of modifications.Modifications:Polished Schrick Inlet ManifoldGrant Motorsport VW Racing Cup Port & Polished HeadDougherty 268 Racing CamsHeavy Duty Valve SpringsEnlarged Throttle BodyBMC CDA Induction with Cold Air FeedNeuspeed Lightened Power PulleysMk4 Timing Chain Guides and TensionersVibratechnic Engine and Gearbox MountsRed Samco HosesAir Conditioning120 Amp AlternatorMk4 Battery CoverChromed Fuel RailChromed Exhaust Manifold ShieldKONI Fully Adjustable CoiloversPowerflex Polyurethane Bushes all roundFront and Rear Anti Roll Bars8â€x17†RH ZW1 Alloys with VW Sand Gold Centres and Polished Lips195x40x17 Yokohama Sdrive AS1 TyresPorsche Valve Stems and Caps30mm Rear FK PCD Adaptors25mm Front H&R PCD AdaptorsFull Highline Leather Interior with Heated Front SeatsBoot & Parcel Shelf Trimmed in Black LeatheretteChrome Door HandlesLower Glove BoxWolfsburg Aluminium Door Pins9†Headrest MonitorsIpod Dock in rear ashtrayAlpine DVD Head unit DVA-9861Ri12volt Xbox install in Boot under false floorAlpine MRP-F240 4 Channel AmplifierAlpine MRP-T220 1 Channel AmplifierRockford Fosgate Punch 10†SubwooferBlaupunkt Rear Parcel Shelf Supports with 6x9s, Mid Range & TweetersVoodoo Power CapacitorVoodoo Distribution Blocks, Fuses and EarthsVW Toureg AerialFK Automotive Angel Eye HeadlightsFK Automotive Crystal FogsClear Side IndicatorsJOM Debadged GrillAero Front WipersDeep Chin Front SplitterDubmeister Number Plate Surrounds “Old Dubs Never Die They Just Go Fasterâ€Longlife Stainless Steel Cat BacSystem with Twin Round TipsCat Bypass PipeFully Wrapped 6 Branch ManifoldAudi TT 312mm Front Discs and CalipersMk4 Rear CalipersGoodridge Braided HosesSigma Cat 1 Full Closure Alarm SystemThis stunning car can usually be found with a crowd both peering into the boot and under the bonnet. The engine bay certainly attracts some attention from any magpies and power-heads once it’s open and the wheels were a perfect match for immaculate paintwork.Gary has spent a lot of his spare time in his garage with his VR, he’s very lucky his wife Jeannette is so understanding! I don’t think she saw him for weeks before Ultimate Dubs! However, it seems the car is dear to his family’s heart, the video consoles were installed for the enjoyment of his children and his daughter has a very important stake in the car. As Gary says "Bought the VR in 2004, bog standard. VR is named Absy after my daughter and the number plate is hers when she is old enough next year’’.What a lucky lady!Like a lot of people on the forum, he likes to get his hands dirty, built not bought, and certainly has the skills for creating and maintaining the perfect engine bay. ‘Had many issues with so called VW Specialists until i saw sense and vowed to never let anybody else get their dirty mitts on my car. Many hours spent in my garage tinkering and all modifications to date, apart from remap, cat back and recent respray everything has been done by myself and i take great care and ensure it’s done properly. Engine been out a couple of times and variations on boot build.’As it happens, as some of you may know, Gary has recently bought an R32 lump and will be in the process of taking on an engine swap staring in November so watch this space for an interesting thread http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?386380.postAnyway enough from me, Gary has answered the following questions so you can all learn a little bit more about him and I will let the pictures do the talking for this shining example of a Dragon Green beast...The person behind the car.Name: Gary AinsburyForum user name: VR6_AbsyAge: 42Occupation: Computer analystLocation: PlymouthHobbies: Pampering & driving my VRLikes: Built not BoughtDislikes: Bought not BuiltCar questionsFirst car?: Mk2 EscortCurrent car?: 1995 VR6 Golf, Dragon GreenDream car?: Ford Model A HotrodOther cars owned?: Mainly Fords lolWhat got you into Dubs?: One day i decided i wanted a GolfBest feature on your car?: Air Conditioning, it’s coolFuture modifications?: Sell upFavourite other member's car?: I luv em allGeneral Stuff1.
