Racelogic Lauch/Traction Control

Done a bit of searching on net and youtube and seems pretty good system. I'm going turbo next year and think it may be a worthwhile investment..

That is the box thing i've seen being used, but I cant find a price for it on Racelogic's website or Stealth Racing etc

My car is OBD1 with the standard traction control and 288mm discs so will the ABS sensors need to be changed or anything?

Is the actual software not a part of the racelogic ecu?

This box needs to plug in to something that is controlling the engine. Looks like a plug in module for an aftermarket ecu or something

that's what i'm unsure of.

could it not plug into a standard ecu? or how much would it be for the whole kit?

also not sure if it's something that you can do yourself or needs to be professionally installed.

What power are you running that needs traction control to fix it?

Are you sure its just not practise that you need?

it's standard at the moment but have a garrett t61 turbo to go on over winter. i just think it'd be easier on the tyres.

and yes to be honest i will need launch lessons or tips.

it was watching to 2 corrado turbo's on youtube at stealth racing in the wet that made me think.

Basic kit without launch control is £600ish inc VAT.

Yes it's a complete kit with hardware and software.

Connects to factroy ABS sensors and Injector harness.

5 or 6 of us bought the kit recently in a Stealth Racing group buy.

It does make a difference. At GTI international this year, a 400hp Stealth built Corrado VRT with Racelogic pulled a 5 second 0-60, beating a 540hp VRT with no Traction control by nearly 2 seconds, to the same speed.

lol so to 60 a 540bhp VRT is only as fast as a standard one? because of all the wheel spinning?

yep. too much wheel spin, get the same problem at santa pod too. unless you start the turbo project as a drag car, but with road tyres etc i think you'd struggle to get power down.

this is why i'm interested really, plus i don't want to pay 92 quid each tyre anytime soon!

Yes Tony went up against him and was took apart. I had to ask what he was running and couldn't stop laughing when he told me he had traction control, Tonys face was priceless

Simple but bloody effective :-)

All it does is pull back the fuelling proportional to the spin so in a strange kind of paradox, less power actually = quicker accelertion :-)

so they make it run lean. how does that not damage the engine.. can you feel it doing it?

Yep, the injectors are cut in sequence, not all at once. Nope, you don't feel it. It's no difference to over run, which is the injectors turned off ;-)

Fuelling leaner than 17:1 just doesn't burn / explode at all and that's the strategy it works to.
