pradamaniac 0 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 hi people. I got a VR6 Golf MK3 as a gift not too long ago but ive been having some issues with it. Its on an "L" reg and originally i believe it was an OBD 1 engine. recently i learnt that the engine had been changed and apparently its an OBD 2 engine. Before i found out about the engine, i had a leak coming from the auxillary waterpump so i changed it according to he chassis number. Since then, Ive had so many issues. The main issue im facing is that the car shut downs while im driving and the temperature gauge shoots up to maximum!! I also had to take off the induction kit but i think its just dirty. someone also told me that i may have OBD 1 wiring so i need to change it to OBD 2??? now im just confused, i need some help guys!! please PLEASE HELP!!! CALICO 130 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 obd 1 will stay as obd 1 it shouldnt make much any difference but obviously would be handy for you to know so as you can order the right parts for your specific engine you may need to get it on VAG-COM which a diagnostic check i have one but its for obd2 the port connectors are different is the thermostat in the right way round Link to post Share on other sites
