Dragon Dave 1
The hose burst and when I inspected the hose there was a strange brass object inside the hose where the hole is. The object looks to me like a one way valve of some sort. It is a small cylinder with a small hole at one end and a large hole at the other end and a ball bearing inside that will block the small hole.I assume it has come from somewhere in my cooling system and got stuck in this hose and caused it to burst. Here are some picsHopefully someone can shed some light on what has happened
Pearsy47 1
only thing i can think of is it coming out from the throttle body !? dunno if thats right or not but an idea !?
Dragon Dave 1
I thought that, but when I pulled the hose away from the throttle body, it's quite obvious that the valve didn't come from the throttle body. The diameter of the cylinder is equal to the diameter of the inside of the hose. I think the valve is supposed to be in the hose but I'm not sure.
CALICO 130
its supposed to be in there i think it reduces pressure into the body as it has a one way type valve in it
Dragon Dave 1
I'm considering replacing all the hoses with Samco silicone hoses. Is this one of the hoses that comes in the Samco kit? Will the Samco hose have a new valve inside or will I need to use the one that I have?
Dragon Dave 1
Which way should the valve be pointing?I assume it's pointing the wrong way in the pics. It's a one way valve so which way do I want the flow to go? Into the throttle body or out of it?Looking at the shape of the valve it is flanged on the end with the small hole, this makes it very easy to insert into the hose from the throttle body end, is this correct? CALICO 130
yes small hole in first the cross bar bit is still visible once inserted just leave enough space for the metal from the throttle body in the pipe
