chrisp17283 0
hi all im sorry if this has been asked before but i cant seem to find the info i want.i currently have a 2.8 97 obd2 vr which has done 163k and is tired and i think valve stem seals are on there way out as its smoking quite alot with oil smoke, my question is how much gain will be noticed from putting a low mileage 2.9 engine in converted to obd2 and can i use the bits from my current set up to do this? i can afford to get another engine on a stand to work on and swap it once its done as i dont really need the car everydaydo i need to change the head or can i use the obd1 head?will i need to change the fuel rail pressure?whats the difference in 2.8/9 inlet manifolds and can i use the 2.8 obd2 throttle body on a 2.9 obd1 manifold?is it worth fitting a lightened fly wheel while its out as i need to do clutch anyway?will a decat make a difference?should i change injectors while its all apart or do any other overhauling to save me hassle in the long run?the car is just as i want it now and dont really want to get rid of it yet ive had it for almost 3 years and have spent a lot of time and money on it and the only thing left to replace is the engine and 2 rear mounts while the engines out.cheers in advance guys
