Hey, im looking into getting a vr6 jetta for my daily driver but im a little uneasy of the scary consumer reviews. Of course all cars will have their lemons and bad reviews but this one is so mixed im a little confused if i want one still. Like i said this is going be my daily driver, so i guess i want some of your opinions of the car, Im looking for the people who have mainly kept their car stock and how it held up for them, and i figured that this is the best place to get some good opinions thanks!! heres the listing of the car i might pick up, let me know what you think. Thanks!!

I kept my car stock for a year and a half buddy and loved every second of it, yes the servicing costs are a little more than your standard 4 pot motor but the extra big smile on your face when you put your boot down is well worth it. The main bit of advice I'll give yah is to make sure its all been serviced and looked after as mine had a gap between servicing of about 20k and I'm paying for it now. Everything that i'm having to do to the car is basically down to a lack of serving and would have not been a problem if the car had been looked after.

The car has 166,000 miles on it, he said he has been the only owner and hasn't had a problem with it other than preventable maintenance. So im going to go look at it this weekend :D . Anything i should look for other than the obvious? something that you only would know to look for if you have owned one and learned from experience?

Timing chains and overall condition. Check the service history and all the normal things like ensure you start it from cold, long test drive and check everything works, oil and coolant condition and smoke from exhaust, engine and vin numbers match and odometer numbers aren't missaligned, knocks squeaks and rattles.
