Thor 0
Hi,I own 1999 model of Caravelle VR6 T4. I think it's the only VW Caravelle VR6 T4 in Iceland. I'm looking for tips and advices how I can boost up my Caravelle VR6. It's 99 model with 2.8 giving 140BHP. I don't seem to find manifold specially made for the Caravelle. Only for Golf and simular. Like this :http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RACELAND-MANIIFOLD-VW-GOLF-CORRADO-VR6-2-8-2-9-/360272746093?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53e1edd66dCan I use this on my car? I've also heard the difference in Golf MK3 power and mine is in the height of the head gasket? Can I replace the head gasket with MK3? Is there anything else different? Maybe the head it self? I've also heard about cams. More power with MK3 cams?Would I need to remap the car after changing this all? Do you know of anyone who has changed his Caravelle? All help appreciated.Thor
rodney 17
someone will be along to tell you about the specifics of the engine differences in the caravelle..Yes you can increas power the standard 2.8 in a gold gives about 175bhp as standard. Maybe the cams are different.. then..Yes we have these and they work well. you will need to fit either a flex pipe or change your engine mounts as the stainless manifold doesn flex and will crack after not too much time. The basic ways to get some more power are air filters and exhaust pipes. after that then yes you could look at cams. Following that you would ned to do either a supercharger or turbo. but once you do that you will never go back... LOLIf you do cams then yes you will need to remap to get the best from them. bungy 2
I'm not sure of the mechanical differences which give you only 140bhp but i'd guess it was down tuned but with increased torque for drivability due to moving more weight.
UnitedMotorsport 55
The cams are MASSIVELY different as are the inlet and exhaust manifolds and of course the software is different. Also that 'Raceland' manifold will not fit a Caravelle.
