Golf VR6 Windows Automatically Going Down

Hello,

I have a 99 Golf 3 VR6. I'm having the most odd problem.

After some heavy rains a few weeks ago, the electric windows have decided that they're going to control themselves.

When I got to my car, all 4 windows were down. I turned on the ignition and using the switch, they all went back up.

Later that evening, the same thing happened. This time when putting on the ignition and trying to put the windows back up, they would not go up. I left it for a few hours and tried again, it worked.

Now I have a problem where the windows don't want to go up at all. Earlier I drove the car and while driving they worked intermittently.

At the same time that the windows don't work, the electic doors seem to give trouble and using the remote to lock the car, the doors lock and then unlock.

What on earth is causing this, I seriously hope nothing too hectic

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

I had this prob a few years ago and think in turned out to be the central locking pump located in the boot.

Damn.. how on earth would that all be related?

i have had dat problem aswell it could be various things like the central locking pump coz the locking is done on a vacume system,

it could be your drivers side door latch coz it all stems from there and they aint cheap,

or a wireing problem i searched high and low to sort this out round the car and in the end for me it was my remote central locking system wasnt set up correctly to sync with the windows coz golfs have a thing if you unlock the car and hold the key the windows all go down and if the lock the car and hold the key they all go up, good but bloody annoying lol well hope dis helps
