ashmk3 0
Well seeing as I may be doing the headgasket in the near future I was thinking of upgrading to arp bolts etc. but I was thinking could I use a spacer gasket on the head and lower the compression ratio. As I wouldn'tmind going boost at some point. I was just wondering can a n/a engine cope with lowered compression what are the pros and cons of this?
craggsy 91
Yep it'll be fine. Pete (the boss here) ran low comp pistons on his VR6 for quite a while with no problems
VR6Pete 1,455
Did i hear my name being mentioned? My lump was 221BHP. 204lbft and was rapid
LadVR 0
Mine ran fine on low comps, not been driving it too hard though as running it in so can't comment on performance difference.
ashmk3 0
was the lump harder to start due to lower compression on cold days or hotter days im just trying to weigh up all my options.
ashmk3 0
so would this be suitable ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260558750955&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
AJmk2 2
I drove mine daily on low comp and hit the limiter a few times and all is well. Just not as much torque as before but wouldnt want to have to do the job twice to go FI.

ashmk3 0
ahh right then if its head gasket then its been decided i go low comp but i think my aux water pump could be causing the excessesive pressure in my cooling system, i refilled the coolant and found no oil in there touch wood.
