Pearsy47 1
like you said mate thats the only way oil could get in with the expansion tank is the head gasket its not that bad of a job i ve done it before when i bent 7 valves ! lol

Pearsy47 1
na you don t need to have a engine hoist just two trolly jacks that what i use about 3 times lol but would be much easyer with the hoist ! and i tell you when you got the gearbox off is a good thing to change the oil in that ! you really feel the diffence !! Saunders82 0
Oil can get into the water via the oil cooler so might be worth checking that can give the same problems your having
vr6stormt 0
right i drained of all the oil out not one drop of water in it drained the water system flushed it took off oil cooler could`t really tell anything was wrong with it looks new and shiny put it all back together watched the water in exspansion tank and litle bubbles of oil coming to surface ahhhh...still runs ok whats going on ahhhh again.... ashmk3 0
i too get these symptoms its very strange im yet to look at the cooler tho.
xyber 1
Apparently it the oil cooler fails the water doesn't get into the oil, it's always the oil that gets out into the coolant
ashmk3 0
right tomorrow ill attack that then. cheers
Bigjobbo 0
Pressure test the cooling system as an Oil cooler internal fault is more than likely, but if it was thick in the header tank it is gonna be a dirty system, and will require several flushes to remove a majority, and then a reflush after 1000 miles. Don't want to tell you to suck eggs, but don't flush a hot engine with cold water. :-)
craggsy 91
if its the oil cooler gone then I have one that you can have cheap...never been used as I never actually changed mine
ashmk3 0
Haha neh i wasn't going to pour cold water in. Anyway the engine iscold now so I guess it's keep filling up until the water runs clear? And hopefully going to check the oil cooler tonight see if there is anything visual I can see wrong. If Ineed a new one I'll keep you in mind
