Spoke to Mike at the South East meet and he said he hasnt had any probs with his but then couple of peeps round here have been pulled for them although no action was taken !! So anyone know for definite ? and if your running one stick up a pic Like this one

thegoth 5
although there so seem to be more retrictions on post 2001 cars or plates.Layout of marks13.—(1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), a registration mark of a description specified incolumn (1) of Table A must be laid out on the registration plate in conformity with one of thediagrams specified in relation to that description in column (2) of Table A.(2) A mark displayed on a motor cycle may not be laid out in conformity with diagram 1a,2a, 3a, 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a, 8a or 9a.(3) A mark may not be laid out in conformity with diagram 2c, 3c, 4b or 7b if it isdisplayed on—(a) a registration plate fixed to a vehicle first registered on or after 1st September 2001, or( a new registration plate fixed to a vehicle on or after 1st September 2001 to replace aplate previously fixed thereto (except where the vehicle was first registered before 1stJanuary 1973).But I'm guessing 2b is the style you are after. Ben Seabrook 4
ah bonus !! another benefit of having an old car yeah 2b is exactly it
thegoth 5
ah bonus !! another benefit of having an old car yeah 2b is exactly it Technically it also applies to new plates fitted to older cars. But as PHM once said/wrote it's up to plod to prove the plates are new ;-)But either way 2B isn't restricted.
Bazra 0
Just a sub note, i think import plates (13x7) look far better than standard british size.
Rikki 2
True they do but you could technically get a fine for that as import plates are for that exactly....an import car with that size aperture....unless you make it like that Ben!!!! Hmmm
xyber 1
I've noticed Mitsi Evos now have normal front plates. They used to have square ones from the dealer, so maybe they've changed the rules? You could print this pic out incase you get pulled haha
Rustyman 0
As the rules stand ... and i've been pulled on various occasions for maoddified cars as long as the lettering is legal size, text and spaced correctly they cannot argue about it. They may pull you but if it goes to court ( and it won't ) they loose out.I find it best to carry any documentation in my glove box to prove it's legal things like plates, rear lights, window tints etc have all got me in hot water but soon as i produce paperwork they shut up.Going slightly off thread, i was once pulled in my BMW for not having the tax disk in the lower right corner, again said police man didn't like my car but when challenged to show my where in the highway code it said that it had to be there he couldn't ( i had my tax disk behind my rear view mirror on full view to anyone on the outside but hidden from the drivers view and was a few years back now totally legal )... But it does take someone with Balls to argue with a copper, i only argue as i knew with proof i was in the right. ( p.s. i was a mouthy git when i was younger ..mellowed with age now !! )
Special K 81 0
Slightyly off thread again Rustyman, thats a mighty fine arse u got there <-------------------- ha haI think they need to be challenged on occasions if you know yhour right as too many people just take whats dished out. Heard on the radio the other morning that most police dept's across the uk have in the last 9 years been using incorrect legistrations to fine and get people convicted of things. No doubt that will include driving convictions etc. So if you have had a run in with the ol' 50 in last 9years might be woth checking out as they said people wrongly done are entitled to compo....always worth a check. Rustyman 0
Why thank you Special K... ha ha ha... On the case of plates.... Even sticky's are legal as long as the text is legal size type and spacing... so if you don't want a plate but want a sticky with your reg on it that's ok ...
Special K 81 0
obviously that has to be on white and yellow backing yeah!?!oh and btw thats ok...it is a very fine one ;P ha ha
Rustyman 0
Yep you got it has to be on white / yellow backing
Special K 81 0
can it go on say the lower lip of bumper or other areas of front or does it again have to be where the plate should be??
Rustyman 0
Don't quote me on this.. but there are many cars historic and others that have the sticky on the bonnet, i'm looking at a sticky on the front drivers side corner ... so as long as it's on the front somewhere and visible there should be no problem
Special K 81 0
yeah that sounds cool, just be much better to do away with a plate.... maybe a plate sticker in front window
Rustyman 0
That might be illegal in the window but i'm not totally sure !!
Rikki 2
Has to be in front of the axle!
