LiamD 0
Guess I should do a little thread for my car.Back in June 2009 I bought this as a bit of stop gap really, just wanted a cheap car that was quite practical to replace my previous car, which was this -So yeah, the Mk3, I paid 900 pounds for this, it was a bit tatty inside and the clutch was slipping a little but underneath it was spotless and it was a nice late spec car which was exactly what I wanted.Month after I splashed out on some ebay special coilovers (which have been spot on!) and some new Avon ZV3 tyresI added a cone filter and a de-cat which made absolutely no difference to the performance but sounded lovely. Then I splashed a bit of satin black paint on the tatty BBS rims.I spent quite a bit of coin on it over the winter. New wheel bearings and a new clutch and a full service including a new coilpack set me back quite a bit so progress was slow but mechanically the car is in fantastic condition The back box also decided to fall off, now I have chosen not to re-attach it because I quite liked the noise, this may be a similar car to mine with no back box... see what you think 8-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGTOJJftqusProgress has been a little slow but the car doesn't owe me much and it's been great fun, and I was dead chuffed to pull a 14.6 at York dragstrip at the start of the month! (timeslip in sig)Then the bug bit. I HAD to beat that time, but I don't have the coin right now for cams and remaps and headwork, I need free BHP...and this is the result up to now still got loads of sound deadening to come out but i'm keeping the dash and front doorcards as it's still in daily use doing 20+ miles a day. Some nice pics down in Whitby the other weekFor it's next phase I'm going OEM-. This might annoy the purists but it's a cheap and cheerful VR... first stage - ditch the smoked lights. Excuse the bad debadge...Plans for the rest of the year are to bring it off the road I'm going to buy a daily and hopefully strap a snail to the back of this VR. rodney 17
Yaaaayyyy and I especially like the colour... Parents are from Saltburn so if you see me when I pop up in a stealth more door giv us a wave... Oh and I know its a bit of a trip but get down to the owners meet at billing and we can have a red car line up rather than those purple ones...

LiamD 0
thank you and yes mate I am on Ed38 as "MoneyPit" after the build of my Eaton'd G.i took the front reg off last night and cleaned behind it, took it for a drive to see what it looked like... i do like it but no way could i be bothered with the police hassle or the cheap look of the plate sitting in the window, so it's bolted back on now.I'm thinking of tinting the front headlights and spraying the grille black? LiamD 0
Well a little update after the weekend's activities.Had a little trip to Hornsea to collect a car with my mate. On the way back a flock of birds aimed for my VR So I set about a new look for the front and hit the track. Did well over 45 runs, managed 0-60 in 6.2 seconds and a new 1/4 mile PB of 14.65 @ 94mph. Not bad for what is affectively a standard VR6 engine with no money spent on it!Next step for this Summer is N20 and sticky tyres 8-)Brilliant thing is, I did more runs than any other car, including some pretty big 2nd gear burnouts and the car never missed a beat. I love it!Sorry to whore it about, but last pic, note the 300bhp Focus behind me, that still didn't get past at the end of the 1/4 mile. It's all about the launch
