dunc_b 0
Finally got a bit of time spare so thought I'd stick a build thread up to show the various stages my car has gone through from when I bought to now. Will try keep it as brief as I can but here goes. After spending 3 months looking for one I finally found this 420 miles from home in St Ives in Cornwall.Absolutely standard, 44k on the clock, 2 previous owners and fsh. Nice unadulterated example which is how it stayed for all of 24 hours of buying it when the obligatory Ramair filter and CD player went on. Then spent 7 hours machine polishing the whole car, painted and fitted a debadged grille, early VR lip, mk4 front lights and crystal fogs and indicators.Next up coloured coded the boot spoiler and fitted cross drilled and grooved discs and green stuff pads all round, a set of FK Konigsports, Eibach ARBs and a Scorpion stainless system.Apart from fitting my stereo out of my old mk2 and making a boot build this is how it stayed for about a year or so when I bought a set of mk3 Anniversary 16in BBS splits which were pretty manky when I got them tbh (see lip pic below)After a bit of love with some red scotch bright, wet and dry and an air polisher with autosol on the pad they came out like this. This is up to about 2 years ago but that's about all I've got time for atm will stick up the rest of what I've done to it later on,

dunc_b 0
Cheers for the comments guys. Next up was a bit of a fail on my front backing out of the workshop at work with the tailgate up the automatic door decided to start coming down which I only became aware of when there was a bang resulting in this :SAlso bent the bottom corner of the tailgate round, think the door won this oneAnyway £280 for a new tailgate later gave me an excuse to bin the rear wiper and badge off so set to and plated and welded the holes up.After I'd filled it and it had been blown over I also managed to source a set of genuine Hella red-smoke-red magic colour rear lights at the same time this is the result when I built it back up.Next up it was time to tart the engine bay up a bit. First up I cut the airway out from underneath a spare inlet manifold I had and made a flat plate up for the bottom of it to improve airflow and got a local fabrication company to weld it up. Ordered a set of red Samcos which took 2 and a half months to turn up! Also ordered some red silicone vacuum tubing, a new header tank and some stainless bolts etc.Once I got my inlet manifold back from being welded up I proceded to set about removing all the cast marks and lines etc from both sections then gave it a liberal dose of 2k high build flatted it all down and sprayed them gloss black at the same time I also did the base plate of the air filter, throttle body, aux belt tensioner and the end pieces and mountings for my carbon fibre strut brace. Also smoothed and colour coded the engine cover with black lettering and polished the air con pipes up. Any way enough waffling couple of before and after picsBeforeAfterAfter that was the interior after missing out on several sets finally got a decent set of late spec VR Recaros (with rear headrests), a pair of mk3.5 cabrio sun visors, a set of highline pillar trims and centre console. While I was on with fitting this lot this I also dyed the headling black and painted the fittings etc black too. Also changed to a 320 Momo wheel and gearknob.Next installment should pretty much bring it up to date but I'm due out now so this is all I've got time for atm. Yeah it's an R8 oil cap, managed to acquire black pas cap and header tank cap from scrappies too. Bay is in need of painting at some point though so a few more tweeks may get thrown in while I'm on.
