mark@vagworx 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Report Share Posted December 21, 2004 Hi and welcome.Check your breather (top left hand side of the rocker cover) for splits etc.Failing that do a once over round the rear of the engine. Most likely that there is some oil hitting the exhaust and burning. Does the car drop any oil? Link to post Share on other sites
mickelson 0 Posted December 21, 2004 Report Share Posted December 21, 2004 I would second that, my VR at the moment has an oil leak coming from the base of the air intake pipe where some of the oil collects, this drips onto the exhaust and gives a similar smell. run your hand under the intake pipe toward the breather and see if you get oil on your finger, it may not be obvious at first until you touch underneath.
