(searched threads x)indicator resistance question???

Recommended Posts

what were the mk3 ratings? then using the difference in watts use this formulae

Resistance = Volts divided by Current and that should be ok for you.

Or simply same formula. V=IxR and do for mk4 and mk3 - then the difference in two answers gives you the needed resitance value..

Good luck. PS if you know the rating of the mk3 bulb could youu pop it on my other thread... :D cheers

Right very quikly as I gotta go.. assuming the mk3 watts is 21W then running at 12v we have 1.75amps. There for the resistance of a standard bulb should be 6.85ohms

If you have a 5 watt bulb then your need current will be... 0.416amps.

So you will need a restiance of 4.992 over all. add the two - gives us approx . 10 ohms... needed.

Please feel free to check my maths.. as I rushed this

Edit..

note this should be a high rating like a ceramic type as they have to distribute the 16watts of heat...

do you no the colour of the bands and the order they run on the resistor LOL!!!
