outer, inner is rubber and was fine, i dont want to have to buy a tool really cos the olkd snapon account is way over budget. Theyre a pooey plastic sort of material, one went on as the shaft was skinny but im struggling with the fatter shaft.:-d

yeah take the shaft off the car put it in a vice with the outer joint facing down and hit the edge of the joint furthest from the spline with a copper/hide hammer down and it should come off ... its on a spring clip then turn it up the other way and put new boot on make sure u put the smaller clip on first then fill boot with grease put joint back on and hit down with hammer till pops over clip then put bigger clip on and job done ....

Your a lifesaver :), while your on does the camshaft locking procedure for the 12v work on the 24v? i have me motor out, box is coming off tomorrow them im hitting the chains and me stupid autodata registration hasnt been finished yet.
