muttley 0 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Share Posted December 30, 2009 dont know really where to start here, I'm losing about a pint of water if not more a week, i do roughly about 60 miles a week. there is no obvious leak me and my mate have had a good look around the engine bay,The water smells of coolant not exhaust fumesNo obvious signs of water getting into the engine oilBut the guy who had the car before me fitted a oil catch tank and when i went to empty it two weeks ago it was full of water :sAny ideas guys Link to post Share on other sites

bungy 2 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Share Posted December 30, 2009 Check oil filler cap for a mayonaise type oil/water mix, dip stick for water drops in oil and maybe even drain oil from sump and check. All three with the engine cold. You can get chemical sniff tests done of the expansion tank as most likely culprit if not an external leak is head gasket. Link to post Share on other sites
