Miss-Vw 2
Hi guys,Ive been having an ongoing problem with the VR for a couple of months now. When driving at higher speeds, the steering wheel would shake quite bad which I put down to a slightly bent rim (front driver side), it was also pull very hard to the right when I let go of the wheel. I went to a garage today who specialise in wheel alignment and tracking, waited half an hour whilst they did their thing and I was told whilst I was waiting that the tracking was pretty off. Got back in the car after paying 40 quid and its still pulling to the right. Steering doesnt feel as heavy, and it does feel slightly better to drive, but its still pulling. The VR went through its MOT last month and the only advisory I had was that there was slight play in the rear nearside hub bearing, so not sure what else it could be? Unless all this pulling and steering wheel shaking is down to this ever so slight bent rim? Ive had 2 new front tyres put on recently, and the pressure has been checked on all 4 last week. There is no vibrations coming through the pedal, only through the steering wheel. Any other ideas on what could be causing it? Im hoping its not the steering rack on the way out. Didnt want to buy a new wheel and still have same problem. Thats not gospel but worked for me. Hope you get it sorted mate.
eltel 0
I'd check the wheel balancing. What speed do you get the vibration at? If around 50/60mph could be front balancing, if faster, the rear wheel balancing. The alignment may still be out if they couldn't free off a track rod and lied to you... A buckled wheel can cause vibration/ wobble but it would need to be fairly buckled or twisted. I hope that's of help... Have some 16" Anniversary rims if you want to borrow to test.
