rain puddles!!

Recommended Posts

ive searched through many post's and thread's but nearly everyone who has had a water leak in to the driver's footwell has found it to be the sunroof gutter's?

ive had my car's sunroof all sealed off for the past week by adding "black tape" lol (it's a nice look!) and i'm still getting water in, ive traced it to coming in somewhere above the fuse box, so looking either like a gromet or the windscreen seal?

can anyone put any light on where my leak may be coming from? .. it is driving me nuts!

ive also got water in the rear passanger side footwell ive checked in the boot and all is dry in there, so if anyone can help with that one please feel free to pass on your knowladge

it's a 2 door Golf VR6

many thank's for any help with going about making my VR dry ;)

Yes i can help !!! As it happens my wife's leon cupra over night had a lake if the passenger footwell ... There is the heater fan / air con box with pollen filter in the top righ corner under the plastic flasing / drip tray / scuttle ( whatever u call it ) any way to cut the story short heavy rain gets through the paper pollen filter into the blower unit then like a drain pipe flushed all the water straight into the passenger footwell through the vent !! NICE .... Not ...

I found this from pwers of deduction thought it was door seals as had mates skoda fabia let in load last yr. But No.... then checked window seals and they were ok ...

all i can suggest is if u can put a piece of board of plastic over the pollen filter to stop it in future just remember to remove before using the car ...

Bob's your uncle fanny's your aunt job done !!!

hi thank's for the reply, the front passanger side is bone dry .. it's the drivers front foot well that's getting soaked in my car .. i checked the filter a while back and it was sealed OK. think on the first dry day we get i'm just going to run a bead of silicone down the driver's side edge of the windscreen and see if that make's any difference

i stripped all the gutters off yesterday and ran a bead of windscreen sealer down each side and along the bottow of the screen, and for peice of mind i done the same to the sealing edge/base of the housing for the pollen filter, while i was at it i put a seal of silicone round everything i could within the bulk head area, underneath the wiper motor.. fingers crossed ive sealed up the leak?

  • 2 weeks later...

wee update, just to let other's know that might not know?

there is a gromet under the wiper motor that is for the clutch cable to run through the bulk head in other MK3 Golf's, the gromit was the problem with my car letting in water, ive sealed it and my VR is nice N dry inside again ;)
