DeeDub 0
Im slightly worried lol yesterday after cleaning the car i took it out and when i got back had a bit of trouble getting it into reverse, it was definately their i just couldnt get it in, it would go into 1st instead its like the gear was non-existant, eventually found it & parked up. Today took the car out to do the shopping, when i got back i sat outside my house for 15 minutes and just couldnt find reverse i ended up having to push it into the bay ...Anyone got any ideas its a gti with a vr6 in it. Could it possibly be engine oil or gearbox oil ?? or is it something bigger. All other gears are fine, but the shifter is a bit wobbly the screws are loose so it moves around a bit, but when i tightend them i sitll couldnt find reverse?? I dunno if anyone would mind coming down to have a look ?? I live in clapham south, sw4 9dt.
richievr 1
i think the bolt which holds the gear cable into the shift weight has come loose. goes down vertically through the cable end into the big weight. if the cable gets pulled through one way you will loose reverse, if it goes the other you will loose 5th. does your gear lever feel like it's moved over slightly to one side??? Bigjobbo 0
Sounds like a selector issue to me. Engine mounts ok? Might be worth adjusting the selector.
DeeDub 0
I took it to a garage down the road from me a lil while ago, he specialises in VW's he said it might be the remote in my gearbox, im not too sure what that is lol ? im not a diy person still pretty new to this, so im pretty lost =/. The shifter is pretty lose though i can shake it around etc =/
