krave 0
Hey people, car is overheating on standstill, using lots of coolent and steam coming from where the water pump is. This is obviously leading me to think the water pump is gone. When I haave toped coolent up the header tank drinks it then spews it all back out the top. Just wanteing a second opinion before I invest..... Cheers
VR6Pete 1,455
water pump or thermostat related issue it sounds like. does the water not re-circulate back into the header tank at all?

VR6Pete 1,455
coild just be boiling, and steam is escaping through anywhere it can? Easy enough to test for thermostat though, it would be worth buying new seals for the thermostat housing also.

russj249 2
I know they are common to leaking but when doing a thermostat on the VR6, is the plastic housing any cause for concern? And is the seal the one thats about 5-6cm ish in diameter? Was pretty shocked how big the thermostat is for the VR compared to anything I've done in the past!
