8vgtimk2 0
I have the corrado vr6 front subframe with the steering rack, brakes and one broken driveshaft attached to it and would like to know what I need to do before i fit it to the 8v 1991 mk2 golf.1. Do I need mk2 16v driveshafts or will my 8v ones fit?2. Do I need to use the steering rack from the 8v or can I leave the vr6 one in place?3. I think I know that I need mk2 16v hubs and calliper carriers and G60 brake discs to keep 4 stud4. If I am using vr6 subframe then I assume I will need the corrado vibra technics (950mm) engine mount not the mk2 vr6 conversion vibra technics engine mount?5. What wishbones do I use...the vr6 or the 8v?Ok so this frame, I need to use as the front mount sits on here, But do I need to use this frame from the corrado as this has the gearbox and rear engine mount? 8vgtimk2 0
Thanks guys...aaronmk2 you answered all my questions...beautiful.I will keep the 8v driveshaftsI will use the vr6 rack.g60 brakes on the front.yes front mount...I just thought the mk2 vr6 conversion front mount was made so that you can use the mk2 subframe?8v wishbones will be kept on.VRJoel...looks like I will be using both then. Thanks again
VRJoel 0
check that your vr6 rack doesn't have longer track rod's than your mk2 rack or the wheels will have some awesome toe-in with 8v wishbones. I'm guessing that if its corrado stuff then it should be the same (best to check though )
8vgtimk2 0
I found out that I need the 280mm carriers not the 16v 256mm carriers as the brakes will not fit...
aaronmk2 3
the mk2 vr6 mount allows you to keep your mk2 cross member not the subframe ,as for subframe you will be using your corrado or mk3 set up.i think you can use the vr rack but if your staying narrow track you can change the arms from your 8v rack but dont quote me on it
aaronmk2 3
if its corrado it will still be wide track defo wider than the mk2 stuff anyway
8vgtimk2 0
I wanted to use the corrado cross member and get an uprated mount from vibra-T. I will have a look at the corrado rack and see what my options are as the power steering in the mk2 was giving me a few problems. If I can use the rack from the corrado it will be a whole lot simpler I think. As the rack is already connected to the subframe and this is the subframe that I will need to use. 8vgtimk2 0
I want to keep 4-stud/narrow track
VRJoel 0
think its only like 4 or 5 bolts holding it on though, so isnt too hard to switch over, that will save you having to switch the track rods over too. plus you can paint/powdercoat it when its all off too
8vgtimk2 0
Sorted everything apart from the brakes. I have taken the track rods from the 8v and connected it to the vr rack. Will bolt the vr rack, 8v anit roll bar and 8v wishbones to the vr subframe.I just need to check if I can take off the 8v calliper carriers from the hub and use the vr's instead so I can use the vr calipers and bolt the 8v drive shafts on.
