Outer cv joint removal

Hi guys,

I need some help. my outer cv joint has a broken hub spindle. I have removed it from the hub, got the boot off, but for the life of me I cannot get the joint off. I need some advice.

Its driving me nuts.

You need to un-bolt it from the gearbox, clamp the driveshaft in a vice, and then beat the outer cv off. It may sound harsh but its the truth!!! A few hard whacks with a bigish hammer should do it :-)

Is it a case of of undoing the bolts then just pulling out the drive shaft?

Like said. Glove up, and hold it straight and knock crap out of it. I use a 4kg copper mallet, no cv has failed to come off with this trusty tool.

Yes, there is 6 bolts that bolt the inner cv to the gearbox flange, undo them and it will come off as 1 lump.

Hold the CV joint straight with one hand and a big hammer in the other with the shaft in a vice and a few good taps should sort it out
