Uprated Engine mounts

Lookin at uprating my engine mounts to prevent my 6 branch snapping !

Just a couple of questions !

1.How many mounts are there ?

2 Which ones do people recomend ?

3Would standard new ones be ok ?

depends on whether comp or fast road really. I got quoted £270 for comp front and fast road rear and gearbox....but that was with premium members discount

standards are fine.. or do a solid front and leave the rest as was. solid froint is around 45 quid..

Goin to replace the others for new ones and get a solid for the front !

Where can i get the solid one from ?

As said most use VT ones. Also if you join you'll get access to thepart numbers etc.

Worth thinking about as they can induce noice and harshness in to the car depending which ones you make fixed. People discuss the mount on the sub frame and box....

Yep, the front mount is isolated by the rubber mounted cross member. The rear and gearbox mounts transmit vibration through the subframe and into the car.

If you're putting decent power down, the standard mounts are hopeless.

what kev said is correct but for a na vr, new standard gearbox and rear mounts work fine with a solid front mount. its something ive done on many of my golfs ,and never had a problem , even with stainkess manifolds.. the main is to make sure you have a decent flex mounted in the exhaust just before the cat..
