I know that the timing chains are normally about £300 ish..

Just found these http://vwgolfr32.co.uk/shop/VR6-Timing.htm while looking on the net. Is the stage 3 option they give everything that needs doing or is there any things that need to be bought too.

Also do you think that the quality is ok for the price? Don't want to put something in that's going to go next year.

By the way, My car is a '95 with OBD1 style plastics around wheel arches, but has OBD2 dignostics port to the left of ash tray.

Is the throttle body, which is the easy way to check engine, the only way to make sure if it's got the twin top chain or can it be checked another way?

If it is an OBD1 engine (which i think it is) is it just a single top chain or double?

cheers craggsy. Will do that tomorrow while I fit 6 branch.

Looks easier to fit that while inlet manifolds off. Wont take 2 mins to drop rocker cover off then. Anyway you can see down the gap to see what condition the upper tensioner is in?
