_VR6_ 0
Hey guys,I've recently taken my VR6 for a service to get it up to scratch etc and it has come back with a couple of problems. Firstly I have a leak in my cooling system and it's to do with the water bypass pipe. Now basically I'm looking to see if I can replace this myself as it is a fairly minor repair. If anyone here from New Zealand is able to quote me prices on this part and where I can get it then please let me know???The second issue is that I have an oil leak, which the mechanic who serviced my car reckons this is stemming from the water leak. Basically he has said that the oil leak is coming from the oil cooler. How would I go about fixing this issue if I did it myself?I could get a garage to fix these problems but have so far been quoted up to $800NZD which if I can help it I really don't wanna pay!!!Any ideas or feedback would be hugely appreciated! thegoth 5
The water bypass / transfer pipe is commonly known as the crack pipe because that's what they do, crack. Both are fairly straight forward, especially when done together. Three bolts to take off the 'stat housing, the transfer pipe then just slides out. Oil cooler is attached by a single 'pixie hat' fixture and two water pipes, one to the block and one to the transfer pipe. I would suspect that any oil leaks will be down to the seals rather than the metal coolerI cant be any help with sourcing the parts being from the UK but remember that Ford also used the VR lump in the Galaxy.Budget for changing the whole of the thermostat housing, and seals, as they are as fragile as the transfer pipe when old and is likely to cause problems later if left.
