Central locking probs

Recommended Posts

The pump sucks to lock the car, but does not blow to open it. But if I dsconnect the air pipe and lock it the pump keeps sucking and if I open it like this the pump will then start blowing, so to make sense of it if I suck blow suck blow with the pipe of its fine but if I suck cover the hole and then try to blow it wont blow

pmsl :);)

but seriously Inside the pump there is a metal conact switch on a vacuum/pressure plunger, the plunger gets worn over time and starts to stick, it can be sorted out but it entails stripping the pump down and cleaning up the unit, might be this ??

Have you fixed this yet? My fuse 21 blew which controls the central locking, clock and interior lights. I had to open the doors manually to get in I've replaced the fuse but now my central locking only sucks the doors shut, not blowing any more. The fuse blew after I had locked the car so I think it's stuck in suck mode lol

UPDATE:

I kind of had a little panic when I went to my car as I couldn't even open it from the outside with the key, the 3 minute deadlock had kicked in. A couple of twists to the right then a left undid it though.

So the solution to my problem was I had to pull the fuse out then unlock all the doors and boot from the inside then plug the fuse back in :) hey presto back to it's original setting and all working again. Whilst I was fiddling with my golf I also fixed the boot lock for the 3rd time in 6 yrs.
