car dies after replacing sensors!!!!!

Recommended Posts

iv got on my fuseboard, starting from the top left when you look at it-

147 72 empty 18 empty 191

empty 99 36 empty 53 167

then the usual row of fuses below that. my car is a r reg obd2 if that makes a difference.

spot on. wot relay do i need for the ecm? number? why is my car running if theres a relay missing? im getting eco....... to flush out my throttle body. good idea or bad idea?

it's not running very well though! Your symptoms do sound similar to those I once had with the 16ver. Fixed by changing the ECU relay after trying a new crank sensor. When trying to help another owner I donated the realy whcih also fixed his but at the time I started mine without the relay and it ran. Don;t know how it wouild have behaved if I'd let it warm up and went for a drive. But I think the warming up is the key, as if the ECU swaps to a different set up which relies on the relay more.

The large relay number varies depending on Dizzy / coilpack / OBD1 / OBD2 so best talk to VW to be sure. Or another R reg owner ;-)
