craggsy 91
Sounds like an immobiliser problem to me
Ben Seabrook 4
as above it sounds like the same problem I had which turned out to be the vw immobiliser causing the car to die when warm - eventually it got worse and worse until the car would not start
sanchez 0
what can i do to solve the problem?? hammer-whack?
Ben Seabrook 4
no mate it either has to go back to vw to have the immboiliser checked and then re-programmed or certain tuners can bypass the alarm although it is not recommended
Phat VR6 3
ECU or fuel pump relay im 90% sure its one of these
Ben Seabrook 4
ECU or fuel pump relay im 90% sure its one of these 2changed both of them on mine and made no difference - however is maybe worth it as they are a lot cheaper to replace than the immobilser problem !!
sanchez 0
just did vagcom on it. it says engine speed sensor, implaussible signal. time to upgrade to a mk 4 4motion me thinks!
sanchez 0
when the engine runs for a while when hot it cuts out. leave it 10 mins to cool a bit then it will start. when u start the engine cold it wont cut out until it reaches 90 degrees. temp related probem?? sanchez 0
iv changed the fuel pump relay and its been happy motoring from then!!!! if said carrys on then i would like to buy "bodge" a crate of beer or a few bottles of rose to extend my many thanks for his guidence.......... cheers! sanchez 0
said did not carry on so the beer offer is removed until new solution is acquired.the car runs much better but still cuts out now and again, especially when the revs are 3000+. vagcom still reports engine speed sensor signal implaussible! testing times... Ben Seabrook 4
if you vag-com the car when it's not running the engine speed sensor will always come up mate - have you checked the immobiliser module on vag-com for faults ??
sanchez 0
iv checked the immobiliser for faults. no faults. put vagcom on it today and 00282 Throttle Position Actuator -V60 was there. it was a struggle to start but it did go.
Ben Seabrook 4
i think the throttle position sensor is on the side of the throttle body mate - this was one of the things I had to change on mine as well -they are about £40 from GSF for the sensor but not sure how much a throttle body is ?? might be worth having a look to see if someone is breaking a car and can flog you the whole piece ?
sanchez 0
do you think thats causing the engine cutting out issue?
Phat VR6 3
ah unlucky dude.. was worth a try. have you kept your old relay? put your old fuel pump relay back and if there the same swap your ECU relay for your new one. If that don't help its another thing to tick off the listClear the codes and see if your "00282 Throttle Position Actuator -V60" code comes back... if it does then that needs sorting, (fix the things that you know are broken first)
Ben Seabrook 4
do you think thats causing the engine cutting out issue?yeah could do mate - the throttle position can cause stalling at low revs and was defo an issue with my car - the sensor on the side was not opening and closing properly
sanchez 0
where is the fuel pump relay?? or what numbers are on it?
thegoth 5
bottom right. #67, 80 or
Ben Seabrook 4
can also have a look at the ECU and make sure it all looks ok and the wires going into it don't look worn or the dodgy blue/green deposit's on them - can also have a read through this http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2080.
sanchez 0
woops i meant ecu relay. :-) iv replaced the 167 relay for the fuel pump. read that thread you said!! its a read and a half. if only everything was reliable as a volkswagen!!!!!! classic.
