Phat VR6 3
ok kind of just out of interest tbf but would like to know and could be usefulWhat software and program do they use to remap the standard ECU? how much does it cost and where fromwhys this any different to getting a standalone?Possibly change ignition advance from looking at knock getting pulled on vag.com when you come into boost? Adding more fuel where needed buy looking at AF gauge on dash to make sure your not running lean. possibly increasing your redline Surly it would be more accurate than a begi even with a noob setting it up someone sent me this link (looks like ebay scam crap to me) but it got me thinking http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KWP2000-KWP-2000-PLUS-ECU-REMAPPING-FLASHER-TOOL-UK_W0QQitemZ270333851099QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item270333851099&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318Tom
FishWick 21
Some tuners write their own software, but one of the better commerically available ones I've seen is WinOLS.It's no different to a Standalone in that you are programming a computer chip with some software. The difference where OBD1 and 2 is concerned is they have read only chips, so any changes need to be burned onto a new chip. And that necessitates an Emulator to write the map onto first.I would not recommend a DIY tinkerer get involved with that. It's easy to hydrolock the engine with fuel if the Emulator loses power and if you don't know what you're doing with the software, it''s VERY easy to f'ck the engine! Phat VR6 3
:-( dream over lol... i guess standalone is A LOT more user friendly?
FishWick 21
It's certainly easier. The ECU and software come as one package, you just need to program it. If you want a custom map for OBD1 or 2, you will always need to physically change chips.
