sambo82 0
Hi all,I need a new breather valve (the one that goes on the rear of the inlet manifold on the drivers side of the throttle body). I spoke to VW who want £75 for one which seams a bit expensive. Just wondering if anyone else has had to replace one of these and where they got it from
Big J 283
when you go to vw for one, they quote you for the whole thing, including the plastic intake piping too. im a bit heavy handed being a hgv mechnic, and needless to say, i broke it. i was told the ford dealers will sell just the firetrap/valve that you need, separatly, at much lower cost, with ford having fitted the vr6 into the 2.8 galaxy. or just do what ive done, and i think i speak for a lot of vr owners, and run an atmospheric breather like a small K&N, or just pipe the manifold breather down to the ground somewhere. just means your crankcase fumes are directed out the way, and it also eliminates any oil spitting on a nice shiny engine. be sure to blank off the intake tube if you do modify it like this though.
