rodenal 0
I was driving home tonight when i heard something hit the drivers side of the car underneath me, didnt sound bad so i just assumed that i had went over something small i hadnt spotted inthe road. When i went home however my carbon cannister was hanging from the drivers side of the car, the clip/ screw holding it on to the bracket had come off and it was only being held on by its hoses. I've now simply cable tied it up but have a couple of questions. There is a yellow connector which sits in the engine bay just above the cannister, it's not connected to anything now, i', guessing this was the purge valve? If so do i need to bother with it seeing as it hasnt affected the running of the car? Also the cannister itself at the bottom looks almost like there should be a pipe connected to it - or is this just the way they look? I'm not particularly concerned about it as again it doesnt seem to be affecting the car anyway. Also just noticed, and i have no idea how i didnt spot this before, that somebody has taken the air feed off the front of the airbox......why????? It's been left in the boot i'm guessing it just needs to get put back on, only reason i can think of for somebody taking it off is if there was some kind of cold air feed in there at some time. kie_dub 0
what do you mean by a carbon cannister, whats it for?
amazak 3
what do you mean by a carbon cannister' date=' whats it for?[/quote']It is this bit under the airox, not really needed can be removed but make sure you block of the clear pipe and slot into the wing somewhere, as for the intake pipe maybe the car had an induction kit before and the previous owner removed the intake? Not sure about the yellow plug though....
rodenal 0
Yeah the cannister is all but useless now, although i'm not going to bother taking it out as it's not actually in my way and is now quite securely tied up.I'm a bit stumped by the yellow plug as i've actually just located the pcv which is nowhere near the cannister itself so i'm at a total loss as to what the plug is and what actually fell out of my engine bay!
