Stupid girl question!!

Ok, im sorry if this sounds really stupid but ive just started learning about the VR engine and what not so im not really sure on stuff.

The K reg VR that i just bought had a new engine fitted a few months back with 89k on it, the mileage on the clock is 117k. The engine sounds ok to me but Im just wondering whether the timing chain is actually part of the engine lump.

In other words, if the engine was replaced, does that mean the chains would be aswell?? Its got new uprated HT leads, a new water pump and a new steering rack too, aswell as a new engine - Im just worried about forking out for new chains just after me buying it.

Nope, then would have just wacked the new engine in and had done with it I would think, unless they where very nice, generous people

But, if the chains needed doing you would know, it sounds horrible

If your really worried take it to a garage thats worked on the VR engine before and get them take the top chain cover off and have a butchers. Don't think it would be to pricey and worth it to put your mind at rest

if they go past the rivets and they drop out then they go quite again
