krave 0 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 I have done this a few times when a engine has been out before putting it back in, or when putting a gear box on etc, but can i do this with the engine still in? Can i just drop the front subframe?? will the gearbox come off completely, or just 6" or so. Any info on this would be appreciated. regards. Link to post Share on other sites

cabrioman 6 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 rite dont need to drop front subframe, just take the gearbox and front mount off, put a jack and a block of wood under the sump to jack the engine up, remove the dog leg mount from the gearbox and the rubber mount from the main subframe to ease access , when removing the box pull it off the splines and lift the diff up and trun the box to the front at the same time and lower it down. is a bit of a squeeze but it does come out and when re fittin lift the diff up first .... the rest is commen sense like shafts, clutch cylinder, gear change cables, starter motor and wiring, etc etc ... hope this helps ...
