MarkGolf 6
How do you do this properly?I've had a look for about a minute and it didn't want to snap into the pressure plate without some force, is this how you do it or are you meant to bend out the teeth to allow an easier fitment or something?Just want some advice before I go out there and smash it in and find I've broken a clip on the bearing or something..Cheers
Phat VR6 3
you slide it onto the gearbox side over that shaftThere should be some grey lube that comes with it. lube it up and just slide it over No force need atall Get some photos if you don't understand what im on about.. only takes 10 seconds to fit it
MarkGolf 6
The bearing has clips which appear to just about fit to the pressure plate. I assume the bearing has to be held still from one side rather than just sitting on the shaft.. I'll take some pics
CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
Pull the fork off firts mate then fit the release bearing,it will click on to the fork easy without need for pressure but dont try it when fork is on as the picture as the shaft keeps the two platic clips from coming slack hence why you are finding it tight to get it on.look at the picture...what i have circled, push the metel clip into the hole, then the fork will come off.re-attatch the clip with the fork off and it will click into place when you slid the release bearing with the fork back onto the shaft. hope you get what i mean.....cheers. CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
and just to note...the bearing does not attatch to the pressure plate.

Phat VR6 3
can't remember regarding the VR but most release bearings are loose / not clipped to anything so make sure you push it all the way on and just before you push the gearbox the rest of the way on i put my hand inside the bell housing and make sure its seated properlyonly reason i say is because ive put a box on before to find the bearing had slipped off as i lifted the box up and was liying on the floor next to me... wasnt happy Also i take it you've removed the slave cylinder? CorradoVR6-n.o.s 0
only reason i say is because ive put a box on before to find the bearing had slipped off as i lifted the box up and was liying on the floor next to me... wasnt happy that must have pissed you right off lol!only subaru and big power jap cars have a pull type clutch.Once the release bearing is clipped onto the fork there is no reason for it to come off at all. MarkGolf 6
One more thing.. I'm pretty good with keeping track of all my nuts and bolts, all bagged with labels on e.t.c..I used 3 bolts to hold the box to the block... When I was pulling the engine into the bay from the back, I noticed a free hole on the block side for which would allow a bolt to go into the box.. I tried a few of the usual 3" long bolts but they weren't biting so i assume it's a long bolt of anything or a free hole?Think I need to get myself a bentley!
