mac69 0 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 this morning my car wouldnt start turned the key the usual lights appear and go,then just clicking noises,waiting for somebody to take a look,that could be ages yet like days,anyone got a clue been told it sounds like battery or starter motor,cheers Link to post Share on other sites

Smuggler 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Share Posted December 5, 2008 I would check the battery first, make sure you have enough voltage, sometimes if you don't then the starter won't even attempt to turn. What happens if you put the headlights on and then try and crank it? As a general rule of thumb, if they flicker then I would say it's the battery, if they don't do anything, then I would start to look at the starter solenoid, relay, and motor, but check the battery with a multimeter if you can, should have between 12 and 12.5v for a good battery. mac69 0 Posted December 6, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 6, 2008 today i called the rac out and the problem was a knackered battery so that was a big weight lifted as i thought it might have been the starter motor got one fitted at farmers autocare for 65quid rac were charging 20 quid more cheers Link to post Share on other sites
